The Pearly Queens visit to the Artisan 6 Show.

The Artisan 6 show continues.  Currently six jewellery designers from the JeDeCo gallery are at 94 Colombia Road showcasing jewellery collections.

This Sunday the pearly queens from the East End came to the gallery to promote their charity, Save Our Jack, a charity which is helping a twelve year old boy who has traveled to America, with his family, to have pioneering cancer treatment.  The pearly queens were also there to help market the showcase of jewellery.  The event was a great success and there was mulled wine and festive mince pies for visitors.

The event has now been extended to the first weekend of December and after this date, several of the jeweller's will have select pieces of jewellery on display from the beginning of December to the end of January.

The two month exhibition and Christmas selling event will be a great opportunity to buy gifts, for friends and family.

London Design Festival at JeDeCo Jewellery Show Part IV

An insight into our designers' inspiration
KATERINA DAMILOS
Greece

VORTEX
Necklace, silver, 18ct gold, garnet, topaz, citrine
Inspired by ancient artefacts, spinning tops

An unashamedly circular necklace inspired by the shape, design and movement of the humble spinning top

What attracted me was the same simple shape, repeated again and again with different decorative surface motifs.  It elevated something mundane, the everyday toy, into an interesting visual.

WHAT LIES BENEATH
Necklace & Bracelet, sterling silver
Inspired by summers on the Swedish West Coast

In keeping with KristinM’s nature themes  but using a different, more free style technique

I wanted to create a piece of jewellery that would do the seaweed justice. Not just a sawn out piece of what seaweed looked like in my head, but to give the pieces a free flow to mimic the seaweed as it is in it’s natural elements in the water.

REFLECTIONS
Earrings, sterling silver, 9ct yellow gold
Inspired by reflections on sea water

One of a kind pair of earrings inspired by the sea, the way light reflects on the surface and the gentle ripples

My country is surrounded by the sea and these earrings are a tribute to it, an interpretation of the sea water, the patterns of sunlight on it and the constant movement.
