Only three more days until the dayof romance.  For those who are celebrating the day of love, jewellery makes an adorable gift and keepsake.  At JeDeCo there are many designers with different collections, so there is a piece of jewellery for everyone.

The designs are often limited editions and sometimes one off, therefore making each piece Individual.

Come over to the gallery for a look at at the range on show.  The gallery is based at the iconic Oxo Tower in the centre of London.  It is easy to get to from either Blackfriars station or the main line Waterloo.  Take in the surrounding as well, the views of the metropolis and the other creative shops.

January at JeDeCo

The JeDeCo gallery is always evolving and changing in terms of the display and the designer collections on show.  Recently a few of the resident designers have been handcrafting a new display cabinet which is now housed at the front of the gallery, it was very interesting seeing the project take shape.  The display gives passers by a snap shot of the jewellery inside the gallery, as all the permanent designers are represented.  Come by and see the designers work on show.  The new year will see new designers work added to the selection, keeping the jewellery fresh for those who regularly drop by.

New Designer - Michele Wyckoff-Smith

Just joining JedeCo as a guest artist, we have the pleasure of welcoming Michele Wyckoff-Smith.

Her designs begin with abstract drawings, paper constructions, looking at found objects and manipulation of metal pieces. Hand-carved pieces of wax evolve into silver or gold rings that are miniature sculptures worn on the body, sensuous to the touch.

She says:

"I am constantly in search of textures and shapes in the world around me. Whether it is rusting and twisted bits of metal in the road or pebbles along the seaside, these objects become my treasures and inspiration. Organic motifs become bold, graphic shapes in a collage of contrasting textures and forms. Silver wire is drawn into abstract silhouettes within chains, which develop into asymmetrical patterns repeated throughout my work. I translate the surfaces and shapes created by the ravages of time into bold and simple forms in precious metals and gemstones."

A selection of her work is availble from our showroom at Jedeco

The Pearly Queens visit to the Artisan 6 Show.

The Artisan 6 show continues.  Currently six jewellery designers from the JeDeCo gallery are at 94 Colombia Road showcasing jewellery collections.

This Sunday the pearly queens from the East End came to the gallery to promote their charity, Save Our Jack, a charity which is helping a twelve year old boy who has traveled to America, with his family, to have pioneering cancer treatment.  The pearly queens were also there to help market the showcase of jewellery.  The event was a great success and there was mulled wine and festive mince pies for visitors.

The event has now been extended to the first weekend of December and after this date, several of the jeweller's will have select pieces of jewellery on display from the beginning of December to the end of January.

The two month exhibition and Christmas selling event will be a great opportunity to buy gifts, for friends and family.

London Design Festival at JeDeCo Jewellery Show Part IV

An insight into our designers' inspiration

Necklace, silver, 18ct gold, garnet, topaz, citrine
Inspired by ancient artefacts, spinning tops

An unashamedly circular necklace inspired by the shape, design and movement of the humble spinning top

What attracted me was the same simple shape, repeated again and again with different decorative surface motifs.  It elevated something mundane, the everyday toy, into an interesting visual.

Necklace & Bracelet, sterling silver
Inspired by summers on the Swedish West Coast

In keeping with KristinM’s nature themes  but using a different, more free style technique

I wanted to create a piece of jewellery that would do the seaweed justice. Not just a sawn out piece of what seaweed looked like in my head, but to give the pieces a free flow to mimic the seaweed as it is in it’s natural elements in the water.

Earrings, sterling silver, 9ct yellow gold
Inspired by reflections on sea water

One of a kind pair of earrings inspired by the sea, the way light reflects on the surface and the gentle ripples

My country is surrounded by the sea and these earrings are a tribute to it, an interpretation of the sea water, the patterns of sunlight on it and the constant movement.
